Our Research

Work on The Social Normative theory has been running in the US for over 30 years, and has been found to reduce episodes of binge drinking by as much as 40% at some institutions. This is achieved by questioning and correcting any misperceptions that students have about their peers behaviour around certain issues.

Our on-going work with the Social Norms has had input and approval from The Social Norms Institute, as well as a number of professionals in the field of Social Norms and Social Marketing in the US & UK.

Our initial campaign in 2007/08, which received over 13,000 responses from young people, found that students perceptions were changed within a short period of time (6 months).

We have further developed our work in this area this year and are covering the following topics:

  • Alcohol

  • Smoking

  • Personal Safety

  • Drugs

  • Sexual Health

  • Healthy Eating

  • Student Engagement & Aspirations
